The only thing I knew about Morocco was that is where this guy is from. The famous Morocco Mole, Secret Squirrel’s sidekick on Saturday, morning cartoons.

Our small hotel in Tanger arranged for a car to take us 95 kilometers out of the city to a town known by tourists as the Blue City. The first words Mohammed, our driver spoke to us, as got in the car, were “Me name, Mohammed.” I replied, “That will be an easy name for me to remember, my name is Jesus.” Ruth slapped me and said, “No, no, no…his name is not Jesus!” I looked at Mohammed pointing to Ruth emphatically and said,”Judas!” Mohammed laughed hysterically, lucky he got the joke. He spoke very, very little English but using spanish, french and sign language we managed marginally for the next 7 hours.

Took this shot hanging out the car window. We could not stop every time I saw something photo worthy.

Our driver needed a piss stop so he pulled over at a mountain top cafe with an amazing view. We met the owner who was 64 years old who spoke 5 languages including english fluently. He was a great guy. I hung around with him and his younger staff bullshitting, while Ruth had a mint tea that she loved.

Not too many customers at the rest stop this early. Gorgeous place and immaculately clean.

Cat on a rooftop ledge, Tangier
Blue City resident. There are literally thousands of cats everywhere in Tangers. The Blue City is no exception. Some are friendly some are completely aloof, or in this case a roof.
