Our first night in San Rafael out for a walk. Still in shock over the move we just made in our lives.
Home for the trip — our apartment is the corner building at the top of the arrow, a short walk down to the harbor in Saint-Raphael.
The view that sold us — the marina and the Estérel hills from our apartment windows.
The gilded Virgin atop the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-Victoire, seen over the umbrellas of a harborside restaurant.
Ruth finds a cozy neighborhood bar — stained glass and all — a few doors from home.
The red rock of the Estérel meets the sea along the Corniche d’Or — a short drive from town.
The Old Diver works through a tower of oysters, harborside after dark.
The living room doubled as an office — laptops on the table, the Riviera out the window. Retirement, sort of.
The building’s elevator fit two, barely — Ruth and me on the way up.Really great Kitchen with view to the mountains.Private work space as well…Ha Ha Ha, Work don’t make me laugh! The balcony of our AirBnb.Ruth had Desert at our favorite restaurant with a fancy name. I called it Oyster Hut because I got oysters their several times. The bakery across the street from our flat. Established in 1923. They spoke no english and did not try but we had no problem learning sign language.Sonne G, means 100 grams which was just the right amount of goose pate for watching a movie on Netflix.Oyster Hut does a good presentation.Walked back to San Rafael, from Anthenor (7 miles) because the bus would not be back for 2 hours. We walk at 4 miles per hour so we won!
